Rindre reminded me to create this. Discuss any ideas you have here.

A backwards fangame where you have all effects and have to give them to other NPCs. As you progress, the worlds where you completed everything disappear, and your dream world looks more and more plain until it gets completely empty.

I might actually be doing something kiiinda like that, ehehe... Hm. What about a game that mixes in the battle system of RPG Maker into the game? Like, effects count as different spells or abilities or what have you. Get them all to unlock the ultimate spell and beat the final boss. ... Though that's starting to sound like just an RPG game in general.

A backwards fangame, but this time, a dreamself tries to explore reality in the form of an imaginary friend and return things to show to the dream residents. Real-friend tends to misplace things, but actually, Dreamself takes them to the dream world.

been thinking of going back to my "fangame" if it could even be called that once it's finished
an idea i had was that, maybe the different events and stuff could actually affect the protagonist's mood. like, she starts out as a generic silent fangame protagonist and through happy events, she increases back to mental health, through scary events, she becomes more and more distraught and unwell, and through... certain... events she becomes unwell in a more psychopathic way.
her various states would affect her responses to other things in the game and also the ending.
it would be a lot of work to do, tho

And also switches for checking whether you have already watched certain events or not.

How about a fangame or non-YN like game where the protagonist is a bacteria inside a person's body, and the bacteria goes around the body, either deteriorating the host's condition, or making them better. The choices will either effect the protagonist, or the host with benefits to the bacteria. For example, let's say the Protag. is in the brain, and they watch the host do various things, until one day, when the host is at school, they are offered a cigarette. The Protag. then makes the choice for the host, choosing yes turns the host into a cigarette addict, and the protag. gets stronger, and is able to use smoke like powers. If the Protagonist chooses no, the host will continue on as normal, and the white blood cells(the chasers of the game) will recognize your choice and stop chasing you until you make a bad choice. The other good bacteria in the body will also help you get things to make you stronger, like, say, a gun that destroys bad bacteria.
I have lots more ideas for YN fangames, but this is one I've been wanting to make for a long time. Problem is I don't know how to use any game makers, like RPG maker, and I'm quite lazy.

Another idea I had for a possible ending would be accepting missions from a certain character, this would be a much more "structured" way of playing with it's own little plot details and stuffs.

Interesting. It kinda reminds me of Covetous, but in that game the protag is malevolent. I still don't know if it's a cancer or an alien.

Actually, I think in Covetous, it's actually the Host's twin sibling. This type of thing is called "Fetus in Fetu." It's pretty messed up.

Yknow, I was wondering. Since 2ch successfully made a collaboration fangame with Yume 2kki, what if the western side of fangames did similar? We could all work together on one big game, preferably in it's own little board here on Indiesomniac. It would draw more attention to here from the rest of the fangame world, people who are too lazy or unfocussed to make full games can contribute to something greater, and it would all-around be awesome. We'd all have to stick to one concrete RPG Maker, of course - probably 2003 - and I'm not entirely clear on how to conveniently 'combine' maps and database stuffs from different RPGM projects, though there is of course inconvenient methods.

Well we can be more organized than the japanese collaborative project if we used a shared project folder on dropbox. I might actually contribute to a 2k3 project in my spare time, but I'd want to make longer loops.

Yeah but at the end it turns into a monster so I'm not really sure.
