Yknow, I was wondering. Since 2ch successfully made a collaboration fangame with Yume 2kki, what if the western side of fangames did similar? We could all work together on one big game, preferably in it's own little board here on Indiesomniac. It would draw more attention to here from the rest of the fangame world, people who are too lazy or unfocussed to make full games can contribute to something greater, and it would all-around be awesome. We'd all have to stick to one concrete RPG Maker, of course - probably 2003 - and I'm not entirely clear on how to conveniently 'combine' maps and database stuffs from different RPGM projects, though there is of course inconvenient methods. Either way,making a collaborative FG is completely plausible as long as everyone is willing to work on it

I think that some other people tried making a collaborative fangame once (or a few more times. Does this count 'forum fangames', because I think a couple of the previous fg forums had some people who collaborated on a fangame), but they either died out after releasing a version or before release. Who knows, it could work if, as Rindre said, everyone would be willing to work in the long run (or at least on the area they are designing). Sorry, I'm just a little skeptical about these things aha;;

That would be neat! But I don't think I can help much... I have way too many things in my head right now. Well, I can make tiny things every now and then...

Of course, that was over Skype, but as long as most/all people are willing to contribute at least a couple sets/graphics etc it will work. That's my only issue but I know people have lives! It doesn't matter how long it takes, as long as it gets done. There's no reason to rush release.

I'd definitely be up for it, but just getting people together and getting the project off the ground is going to be the thing. I remember at least one or two attempts at a forum trying to make a fangame, and then it just fell apart. But if we can make it work, then by all means we should try.

I'll throw my hat in for a collaborative project. If we work in a cloud environment it will be easy to add users that can contribute, and consequently it would be very easy to work on the game if they could just send the graphics and music direct to the project folder. Later, it can be uploaded to mediafire or get backed up nightly by myself (in case edits need to be reverted). I have a shared projects folder which I can use in dropbox, AND I'm willing to make area graphics and music for more 'concrete' locations.

I remember being on the contact list eheh;; We could try to make a forum fg here, I just hope it takes off. I'd be willing to work as a spriter/chipset maker for some areas. I wonder who would be the 'director' of sorts for the game. The game would need at least one person to keep everything organized.

I'd be willing to help to make a fangame! I don't know what I could do though. I couldn't do programming the game and stuff because I don't know how to use RPG Maker or any game making program. I guess I could be willing to help write dialogue and plot(if there is one), or maybe play-test.

Oh, I am 100% down with making a collaborative fg. I would love to help make some char/chipsets (but leanin' more towards charsets). And as for the director? Since mostly everyone seems so gung-ho about this idea, then I'm assuming we're gonna make it happen. But, of course, before we go any further, we've gotta have a ringleader (as doodle said). Someone who'll dedicate a fair share of time in, and preferably not a sprite/charset maker/programmer, because I'd hate if if we overloaded 'em, and we'd have to call this whole project off. (but i mean, if that were the case, then we'd also need a backup...) So how about it? Any nominees for the big boss? Or for a plan-b?

Since I have the 'infrastructure' set up already, I would like to be the technical lead. That is, maintaining the files and making sure that everyone knows how to access, update, and create assets for the project. I'll also be making assets, but I think my job should mainly consist of managing the project from a technical standpoint.

If we do go through with this collab, what are we gonna call the game? Maybe another Yume Nikki pun, like what Yume 2kki did?

If we do go through with this collab, what are we gonna call the game? Maybe another Yume Nikki pun, like what Yume 2kki did? I'm going to create a new thread for the possible collaborative Yume Nikki game so we won't crowd this thread. Please direct your discussion to this new thread.
